The sycamore tree sits
on the crest of the hill
gazing with longing
into the valley below
In the distance crows call
in the shrubbery mating bears bellow
but this means nought
to the sycamore tree
that sits on the hill
It’s attention, captured
it looks out to see
the sea-gull’s spread wings
gliding down an ephemeral gradient
as it hurtles towards the sea
Another day in paradise
for the sycamore tree
at one with nature
as it sits on the hill
