Carved from a rib and yet made whole
With sacrifice in her spirit and fire in her soulGentle in nature and mindful of life
Soft hands for caring but with fire in her soulNurturing nations, raising generations
Wisdom in her actions with fire in her soulSugar and spice, and all things nice
Underestimated oft with fire in her soulTransgressors encounter her volcanic ice

I so love this! I believe in the fire in her soul that every woman has. I love “nurturing nations, raising generations…..” So true. I am blown away by women’s lives and women’s stories. Thanks for writing to the prompt.

I love the idea of volcanic ice – the oxymoron is perfect to convey the strength and mutability of womanhood.

great opening lines, Viv:
‘Carved from a rib and yet made whole
With sacrifice in her spirit and fire in her soul’
and I love the defiant repetition of ‘fire in her soul’ throughout the poem and ‘volcanic ice’.

Yes, with fire in her soul! And with all the possibilities of fire, a gift of the gods.

I can feel that volcano erupting… may we just work together in saving what’s good.

We the men must take heed and become aware of this fire in the soul of woman lest we end up with a fire in the hole 😉

I love this so much. How the ‘fire in her soul’ changes its meaning throughout the poem but is relevant and powerful each time.
