I have a feeling of déjà-vu writing this. However, try as I might, I can’t remember where I’ve alluded to this same topic in the past. So, at the risk of repeating myself, here goes:

Owning a pet has taught us so much as a family. For one thing, the kids are a lot less self-centred with having to care for Zeus’ every need. I’ve seen leadership skills emerge, where a glance is enough to stop Zeus’ irritating habit of whining when he wants to get his own way. The greatest lesson this pooch has taught us is to face each new day with great enthusiasm, because-let’s face it- yesterday’s soared…..just…gone.

Every morning is the same; he makes a beeline for each of us, as though drawn like a magnet– tail wagging at full speed. A large paw is planted on a forehead (preventing resistance), followed by a hearty kiss which elicits muffled screams. Not bothered,  Zeus bounds to the next room in search of his next victim. And so a new day is welcomed…..every day.

greeting each morning

with leaps, french kisses and joy

yesterday is gone
