Knock! knock! then knocking some more
Who’s that knocking on my door?
It’s the night of the dead
A night I intensely dread
It’s trick or treating-I muse
Or maybe another ruse
I open the door- nobody’s there
Just a monkeys paw
Covered with hair
I pick up the paw with ire and fear
Take it inside and toss it in my store
A fleeting thought, a sincere wish
The silly-billy that dropped it
ought to be dead
Knock! knock! and knocking some more
Fear blooms anew
Who’s that knocking in my store?

Today Bjorn is hosting at dVerse Poets Pub for Tuesday Poetics. He is asking us to write something related to Halloween -so here’s my take.

The knock know can be so terrifying, especially that second time… but never invite them…

That’s a clever way for an enchanted monkey’s paw to get inside the house.

Someone hasn’t read the right books 🙂 This ought to have been funny, but somehow…it wasn’t.

I do sense the humor around the edges; never really heard of the enchanted monkey’s paw. Nice pace and rhyme too.

Thank you! You should read it. I believe there’s a free audio book of it online. Short and spooky😨

I’m laughing (out loud) again!
No sticky sauce unfortunately, my preference being chilli and garlic sprinkles.
And you eat your kids too?!! We have so much in common!
Loadsa love

Not heard this one before either. The monkey paw sounds like it should’ve stayed outside your door. Nice twist.
