Mark smiled at Paula across the corridor. She smiled back shyly. They’d both enjoyed dinner last night. This was the first time in a long while he’d clicked with someone. Tonight, they were going to the theatre after work. Mark hopped into Paula’s car and instantly realised he’d left the tickets at home.
“It’ll only take 2 minutes!” he said apologetically. Paula didn’t mind.
“Stop here,” said Mark, “this is my place.”
Paula’s mouth dropped open. Mark had barely shut the car door behind him when Paula shot forward, tyres squealing. A few seconds later, she was gone.
