Waiting at the sea shore
Lamp held aloft
Waiting for her soul mate
Of him, she wants more
In the distance, she sees him
Rowing towards her light
The chasm between them
Not her only fright
Her tether holds her
Of it
She’s not yet free
She longs to get away
From it
She desires to flee
She tugs at her tether
But it
Won’t let her go
Her heart belongs to another
This, she let’s her tether know
Slowly, Β she’s released
Her tether still and calm
She rushes to her lover
Enveloped in his arms

Ok, you’re good! Really, really good! I love how you write!!! I can imagine so many things around it, because when I hear or read something, my mind automatically conjures pictures. So, at the risk of you getting tired of me writing all these associations, here goes. π
First thought was of one of my favorite Finnish songs, where the woman / girls waits on the pier for her lover. http://www.allthelyrics.com/forum/showthread.php?t=64262
Then I realized the sea was her new lover (in a manner of speaking).
Btw, did you read Anne of Green Gables as a child? That was somewhere in the back of my mind as well. Especially the later books, where she’s married with her own children.

No worries. π I’m always missing messages. It’s a girlie book, a kid’s book really. But quite sweet. My mom read it and passed the tradition down to me, so it’s that kind of book.

Let me know what you think. But remember, it’s very Victorian.
