The mistake I made
Was not daring to cry
If you looked in my eyes
They’d shimmer and shineThe mistake I made
Was not daring to scream
I’d lock it away
And throw away the keyNow I cry
Even if I don’t know why
Now I scream
Just to let off steamMy heart, now lighter
My smile, now broader
My mistakes, hope fewer
As I grow older and wiser

Beautiful! Just made me think how we release our emotions so easily and readily in the first stages of life, then (learn to) bottle them up, then (find a way to) release them all over again.

This was a beautiful poem. I am working through mistakes that have driven people away. Your poem gives me hope for a better version of me. Thank you.
